I have to attend this meeting… I’m scheduled at 10h… It’s almost 14h and I’m still waiting for the call… Mind you, I didn’t ask for it… Last time I attended this meeting I got shout at, humiliated in front of a whole group an thouroughly mad… So I’m not really very keen to go in there…

I have a very bad relationship with one of our Managing Directors… She’s old, can’t cope with the stress, thinks of her extremely highly, is a PC-analfabet… In short: she sucks. And I’m forgetting the most important: she has a very agressive communication style. Everyone in her team just complains about it but doesn’t tell her… So one day, when she was telling me off once more (and she’s not even my boss) I just told her I didn’t appreciate being directed as if I was a dog. She replied something nasty (“You’re talking like a dog”) and then I just turned around and left before saying anything worse. She went to see our CEO (kinder garden?!) who just laughed at her… He made my day…

Anyway, now I have to attend this meeting. I planned my whole day around it and the unprofessional bitch just sent someone to ask whether I could wait another 2 hours….

On Monday I’ll be starting a new page in my life and I hope it will be a better one than the one I’m leaving… I’m changing jobs and looking forward to it. I never thought I would leave this job after just two years. I learned loads, not only professionally, but mainly personally.

It’s funny, I don’t have problems bossing around my partner or friends, like a good taurus does, but being a boss in a professional environment is really not my cup of tea. So, I’m returning to an operational job with enough responsabilities but without the loneliness of the boss. I’ll be working in team again, with people of my age and common interests.

And then there’s home: I’ll be married to a student again as of Monday. My partner has decided to start studying again. I’m not sure I’m looking forward to this, but we’ll see.

Anyway, right now, I’m turning this page and I love the unwritten one(s) that are coming my way…

Life has a tendency to twist in surprising turns.

One day you’re back from a great holiday where you’ve enjoyed peace and quiet, where you managed to improve your love life, where you’ve relaxed…

Then you return to the daily working life. You’re working your ass of because that’s who you are and you want to do do things properly.  And then you get a call from the HR department and you think to yourself “I know I haven’t brought that document, but come on, you asked me yesterday”. So you go up there, to their Ivory Tower, and out of nowhere they conjure up a letter in which they say “We’re sorry to tell you that we don’t want to continue working with you”… blablabla… The rest disappears in a fuzzed mind which is trying to grasp this sudden, crazy and disastrous reality… “I’ve just lost my job and I don’t get why!”

Then you start putting a fight: “I don’t get it”, and before you can continue they tell you “Some people came by, you seem to have failed sending this important fax and they don’t trust you anymore”, “but that’s been weeks ago, before my holidays and everything was fine!”, “Yeah, well, it isn’t now…” No point fighting, you’ll always lose…

You think this is  a crazy story? Ask my wife, she’s the victim… I was working when she was suddenly standing in front of me, tears in her eyes… “What are we going to do?” That’s all she could think of…

So, we’re up for changes again. I’m changing jobs as planned and she’s planning what to do next. I just wonder how the hell we’re going to pay our bills, because, unfortunately whenever they change, even by mistake, we can’t fire those… It’d be nice if life could conjure a turning change in this one…
