In my country we’ve got a music style called “small art”. Boudewijn De Groot is one of the biggest names in this style. I like the following lyrics because of the positive message of hope. This is a free translation as I guess that most of you who might read don’t have a clue of Dutch:
The evening
You don’t need to put your coat on ever again
Or to hope your lights still work
Let the wind outside storm in the dark
As it is warm and light inside
We’ll watch the rain holding hands
I can see the fire of hope and doubt in your eyes
And I know your deepest fear
‘Cause you can’t be sure about everything and everything passes
But I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
And when you get up in the morning I’m with you
And I might prepared some tea
And if the sun shines we’ll have a walk in the dunes
And if it rains we’ll go back to bed
To slowly wake up, floating in time
I see the light through the curtains and I know
The past doesn’t provide any security
‘Cause you can’t be sure about everything and everything passes
But I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
I switch of the lights and it’s dark in the room
A streetlamp provides some light
And all things in the room become friends going to sleep
Chairs are waiting for breakfast
And tomorrow I’ll wake up with the smell of bread and honey
The golden sun shining on your hair
And I wish goodnight to all things in the room
Tonight we’ll sleep and tomorrow we’ll see
But the things in the room wouldn’t live if it weren’t for you
‘Cause you can’t be sure about everything and everything passes
But I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
‘Cause you can’t be sure about everything and everything passes
But I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe in you and me
